Progression Update Placeholder!

June 4th, 2010

Resident news-person reporting for duty!  Unfortunately, I come bearing a distinct lack of pretty pictures to help balance the walls of text I usually inundate our visitors with, so here’s a picture of a Taunka to entertain you for now.

Rest assured, a thorough update will be coming soon enough, but in the mean-time, we though it might be best to at least have our main page reflect our progress to date.

At the time of this posting, we’ve made stellar progress through Icecrown Citadel, with 6 of 12 bosses dead on heroic mode for our 25 man raid.  Our 10 mans have been no less successful, and are currently sitting at 10/12 heroic bosses defeated, with 11/12 likely for this weekend.

We’re still recruiting for a few spots in our 25 man raids, and you can find more information here.

A proper update with killshots and welcomes and other fancy details will be coming shortly to a front-page near you.

Lich King and Sindy and Blood Queen, Oh my!

April 17th, 2010

Every so often, we look at this front page, and it feels a bit like when you’re dating someone, and then you forget to call them for several days and by the time you remember to, they’ve already left and are dating your best frien–

I mean… uh… long time, no update, hey?  Wow. This is awkward.

We’ve been busy, though; at least that’s our excuse. After a brief hiatus to allow our members to enjoy their Spring Break (or allow our College/University students to finish their midterms/finals), we quickly got back into the swing-of raiding and played a bit of catch-up in boss-kills.

After finishing off Blood Queen in 25 man, we quickly wiped out Sindragosa, and then moved on to making solid attempts on Lich King.  10 man raids have been no less successful since we last updated, with 2 of 4 10 man groups having killed the Lich King, and progressed up to Saurfang in Heroic 10.

Of course, progression is all well-and-good, but the true pride of Da Kine is its members.  Our family has grown, and we’re fortunate to be welcoming a number of new faces into the guild in both a raiding and non-raiding capacity.

Warm welcomes go out to  Zalos, Desecrate, Tokah, Slapdance, Chilichesfri, Eriskegal, Crepe, Skyclad, and Saint!  We’re thrilled to have you join us.

Unfortunately, we also have to acknowledge the sad loss of one of our “extended” guild members.   We’ll all miss the random purring over Vent mid-raid — Rest In Peace, LeshKitty.

Also, for our non-members, Nïobe has been organizing weekly PUG raids for guild alts and other well-reputed members of our server, so if you’re from Lethon and looking for a group, don’t hesitate to contact her.

Finally, Da Kine is (as always) on the lookout for fantastic people who are looking for a good time in raiding (or just to hang out).  Please see our current raid needs, or drop by our forums and join in the discussions!

Well, this update is beginning to feel like one of those drawn-out, awkward conversations that you have after you try and talk to that person that you were dating, but forgot to call, and then they ended up hating you and sending you creepy things like black-roses and voodoo dolls with your name written on them and pins sticking out–

… Don’t look at me in that tone of voice.

Putricide 25 Finally Dies

February 16th, 2010

This update does not get a full-blown ramble.  Instead, you get the collective response to this downing from the entire raid:

<Deep exhale> Thank. God.

For some reason, Putricide was more of a pain-in-the-ass for us than most bosses.  However, our kill was (comically enough) a perfectly clean downing, which just goes to show that sometimes patience pays off (or maybe it was the pent-up frustration finally culminating in a raid of teeth-grinding, button-mashing,  eye-crossing, oh-hell-no-you-don’t determination).

Imua Da Kine!

P.S.  We’re currently working on getting a module up for the front page to keep our recruitment handy.  Until that goes live, please feel free to check in on our current recruiting needs here.

As Promised

February 9th, 2010

As promised, Valithria Dreamwalker was downed (or rather, “upped”?) tonight in 25 man — just in time to force a double update this week.

With a reset, we’re looking forward to finishing a few last members’ exalted Ashen Verdict reputations and farming ICC for more loots.

We’re still looking for some recruits in specific classes.  For more information, please see this post.

Belated Congratulations & General Updates

February 6th, 2010

Two of Lethon’s First Shadow’s Edges.

In typical Da Kine style, we’re quick to achieve but slow to report! To add to our list of not-so-recent achievements (at the beginning of January), Kusaruh and Dridarok were two of our members who crafted [item]Shadow’s Edge[/item] — two of the first of these axes on the Lethon server.

Kusaruh has been a long-standing member of Da Kine (over two years), who was awarded the first two bloods from Rotface and Festergut.  His continuous contributions to Da Kine are especially evident in his hosting of our in-guild raffle for prizes such as [item]Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth[/item] and other coveted in and out-of-game goodies.  Suffice to say, we truly appreciate Kusaruh’s efforts, and are cheering him on towards his [item]Shadowmourne[/item].

Current progress:  Quest – Unholy Infusion (in progress)

Dridarok has also been a long-standing member of Da Kine (coming up to two years), who originally joined us on his druid, before switching to his now-fury warrior.  Dridarok is well recognized by Da Kine for his dependability, humour, and loyalty.  In recognition of Dridarok’s respected position within Da Kine, he was awarded our second set of bloods, and is currently well on his way to wielding his own [item]Shadowmourne[/item].

Current progress:  Quest – A Feast of Souls (910/1000)

Progression through ICC continues on both 10 and 25 man raids

Da Kine has continued to progress through ICC, with our 10 man raids having cleared all of the Plague and Blood wings, and up to the newly-released Sindragosa (which our weekend 10 mans are seeing for the first time at the time of this writing).  Our 25 man raid has continued to progress, and we hope to see Valithria Dreamwalker down this week.

Recruitment

We are still recruiting several classes, as outlined in the most recent previous update.  If you’re interested in applying to Da Kine, please feel free to drop by our forums and drop off an application, or just stop by for a chat in our General Discussion!

25 Council Kill & Recruitment Update

January 21st, 2010

Progression:

Da Kine was happy to knock-out the Council encounter this week, leaving only Putricide and the Blood Queen to be cleaned up on 25 man. Our 10 mans have had great success, completing the Plague Wing last week, and looking forward to their first experience with the Blood Wing this weekend.

Recruitment:

First off, thank you to all of our recent applicants. We really do appreciate you taking the time and effort to apply to our guild.  That being said, we have filled some positions within our 25-man raid roster but still have a few spots open to worthy applicants.

Da Kine is Recruiting!

December 30th, 2009

Unfortunately, the holiday season is coming to a close, and Da Kine members are preparing to overcome their respective food comas and jet lag.

As Da Kine eagerly awaits the release of more Icecrown Citadel content*, we are looking to bolster our current 25 man roster with more capable individuals who are looking for our unique blend of progression raiding without the hardcore atmosphere.  We accomplish this unique blend through a clever (if we do say so ourselves) use of scheduling that allows us to maintain forward progression while giving our raiders the flexibility to raid on their schedule and maintain actual “real lives” (crazy concept, we know).

* Current progression is 4/4 ICC, 2/5 ToGC (due to a temporary raiding hiatus during the summer)

25-man progression raiding is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7:00pm to 11:15pm PST, however applicants are not required to be available for all days.

10-man raiding and other content (such as retro-raids, guild PvP and other activities) is typically scheduled between Friday and Sunday.

Our current class openings are as follows:

Hunters: HIGH
Shamans: HIGH (Enhancement) – MEDIUM (Resto)
Druids: MEDIUM (Moonkin)
Warlocks: MEDIUM
Priests: HIGH (All specs)
Paladins: HIGH (Holy)
Non-specific: VERY HIGH (Non-Druid Healers)

Applications can be directed to our recruitment forum. As always, stellar applicants for any class will always be considered. If you’re looking for more information on any of these openings, please feel free to contact any of our officers (listed below), or drop us a line on our forums!

Lethon’s First Val’anyr

August 4th, 2009

<Da Kine> is proud to have achieved another server first, with the first forging of Val’anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings on Lethon US.

While congratulations to all raiders is certainly involved, it goes without saying that our utmost congrats go to our one-and-only Tog, an incredibly deserving candidate for this legendary upgrade.   Tog has been an active and contributing member to Da Kine in both raiding and non-raiding content for almost two years, and although all of our healers deserve legendary weapons, Tog’s ongoing dedication to the guild, its members, and above-and-beyond efforts in organizing our raid healing makes us proud to award him our first [item]46017[/item].

With patch 3.2 just around the corner (in fact, possibly later tonight), we’re happy to have achieved this 25-man feat before new content will see us with less raiding time in Ulduar (not that we’ll mind the break!).

Our only question now remains whether or not Tog’s new toy will actually help him raise his professions.

Onward to Algalon!

July 23rd, 2009

DrakesThumb

Da Kine’s first set of Rusted Proto-Drakes arrived this weekend, from one of our Ulduar groups’ completion of the Glory of the Ulduar Raider achievement.

Algalon1Da Kine has been fortunate to have enough members to run multiple 10-man raids on the weekends (and sometimes weekdays for non-25 man raiders), and we’re thrilled to be seeing success from all of our members in their endeavors, whether it’s killing bosses or just having a good time with friends.

With the completion of the Glory of the Ulduar Raider achievement, Da Kine forged its first Celestial Planetarium Key and stepped through the doors to the Algalon encounter.

Algalon259 minutes of face-stomping, tank-destroying, big-banging good-times later, we unfortunately used up our time alotment, and Algalon had Scotty beam him up, but not before brutally destroying the remaining living members of the raid.

Congratulations to all of Da Kine, and here’s to more drakes to come!

That Cache was Rare

July 17th, 2009

After a couple nights of practice, our 25 man managed to finish Hodir’s speed kill with around 20 seconds left on the timer — overkill? Who cares!

Congratulations to everyone involved.
